Amazon Parrot Ecotour in Mexico by J. Marie Digatono Interested in a week of fabulous birding? Would you like to see amazon parrots flying free? Join us at a research site/ranch on the Gulf Coast of Mexico, near Soto la Marina, Mexico, for excellent viewing of many fabulous bird species— three types of Amazon parrots, elegant trogons, elusive mot-mots, incredible woodpeckers, raptors, and waterfowl, including the giant Muscovy duck. There are also many other interesting critters—armadillos, iguanas, and coatimundi. Viewing can be done at your own pace, or we can observe as a group. We will spend some glorious sun time at the beach, too! The accommodations are comfortable—we are not roughing it! We have had several return visitors! It's a great trip! Schedule We will meet in the McAllen, Texas, Airport no later than 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2000. Schedule your return flight to leave from the McAllen Airport anytime after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2000. Reasonable accommodations are easily found in vicinity of the McAllen Airport if you can't conveniently schedule your arrival or departure to coincide with these times and need to stay overnight. Also, if you're interested, there's a shopping mall next to the airport, and a wilderness area nearby. We will leave directly from the airport, cross the border by taxi, then travel a couple of hours south by luxury bus (Mercedes Benz, no kidding!) along the Gulf Coast to Soto la Marina, then picked up by ranch staff and brought to the site. Price Only $729.00 includes the tour, room, and meals at the site, but not transportation. We will share the taxi cost, and the bus is less than $15. A $229.00 deposit holds your space, limited to a very small group. Discounts for groups of three or more. This trip will be enjoyed by anyone from birding novices to avian scientists!
